Um, since last week was pretty much a so-so normal week, I'll just give you all a cliffnotes, ya?
Cosfest rocked, though it was pretty dark and noisy (but then, all anime cons are) and it had lotsa stuff on sale.
Bits of hell freeze over on monday when I find out that I got 50/70 for my chinese compo, which earns me a B4 final grade due to moderation. =D Actually, my chinese compos are amusing. The last three final grades (after cuo4 zi4 minusing) are 47, 46 and 49, but without the cuo zi I was actually getting 53, 52 and 51. So... Uhm, I'm improving overall but my compo writing skills are actually deproving? Haha... ^^;;;
Stupidest AO Chinese oral topic EVER: What would you like to do after your A levels? *deadpans* Did better than I expected, worse than I hoped.
On tuesday, Chem comes back with a nicely scrapped through C at 55. I am okay with my marks. (Since, wa hey, I'm in the top 50% of the school for Chem... Which is the benchmark for 4As, judging by 2004's results.) It must be quite apparent that our Chem is dead, if they call going through the paper a post-mortem.
On wednesday's house meeting, there's about 30 people in the LT. The house shirt is super cool, but the house video died on us halfway through. *sigh*
New physics lecturer can go race with snails. The snails will probably win.
Got 15/25 for Econs essay, bringing the overall to 67.4%, a la a B. Which is much better than I expected, so I'm terribly surprised. On the other hand, there's still that little voice telling me that just two less wrongs in my MCQ would have gotten me an A... GAH. *smacks little voice into oblivion* Of course, this being the R the top in level is a postively disgusting 85%. *sigh* That's like, a SCIENCE mark.
Lol, now all I need from Physics is a D and an A from maths and I'll have the first four letters of the alphabet. *weak grin* Though, physics will get an F at best...
And of course, the alternative mark scheme to cheer your up:
A - Atrocious.
B - Bad
C - Crappy
D - Delightful
E - Excellent
O - Outstanding
F - Fantastic.
Now doesn't that warm the cockles of your heart. =D
And oh, apparently O is from 35 to 44, and it's an A level fail. Guh. >_> And this year, we die die also cannot be retained, because then you'll have to take the new syllabus if you stay in your school, or go to...
Millenia Institute. *mock horror*
Shoujo manga fans, go check out
Aishiteruze Baby, which is a delightful manga that Mingji, Heid and I have been reading during our sudden week of frees, because Flau ran off to Hong Kong. Actually, I think I'm getting more out of this than GP lessons. *drawls*
As for Bleach, Byakuya has been downgraded from 'prick' to merely 'confused'. (If that will warm the embers of your heart, Ele-san.) Ishida x Orihime still makes me feel like puking, and Bleach is still one of the most yaoi-resistant series I've seen. (Unlike TeniPuri, which is essentially a beginners guide to the many facets of the yaoi universe, and a semi-treatise on the breakdown of conventional seme-uke roles.)
(Yes, I have been on a ZukaFuji kick. Must... resist... urge... to... write... *minor struggle breaks out*)
Went for Outlook CIP on saturday, to a chiildrens home where we were supposed to tutor them. Keyword: Supposed. Utter breakdown of studying semblence after I am conned into telling the widdle kiddo ghost stories. (Half of which, I made up on the spot, because dude, I am NOT a horror fan.) Kiddos are terirbly interested in war weapons, which is good, considering my minor fetish for siege engines (and arrow slits. Hoho.)
Quotes of the week:
(Actually written by someone during the Chem common test)
AloCl3 has covalent character because it eats spaghetti.
(Actually Marker's comments, supplied by the infamous, nutty Prof C, and the photocopied paper happily flashed on the OHP during post-mortem)
Well actually we wanted to order pizza, but the store had run out of baguettes. Do you think I am a teletubby?
Pong: (In physics lecture, doing gravitational fields and circular motion) Wah, the moon is
damn heavy.
Class: DUH.
Mingji: (After watching Heid and me during Econs, which IMO, is freezing and terribly boring.) Aiyoh, one folds stars and the other hibernates.
(Guess who hibernates. =D)
Me: (After once again being attacked by the creature known as Heid-after-freezing-lecture) I have felt the cold, clammy *looks at Heids hands* rather tan fingers of death.
Thou wilt now wander over to my LJ, accesible by clicking "autumn breezes" on the left hand of the screen.

CHERRY GARCIA! You scored 66% SWEET, 51% CHUNKY, and 62% UNIQUE! |
cherry sweet cream base with cherries and fudge chunks
Awesome...you are one of my personal favs: Cherry Garcia. You fall in the middle on all measurements- sweet, wild, and unique, but not overwhelmingly so on any of those. You make a good friend, able to share your unique perspectives on things, and able to have fun without winding up in jail or something. Good job. |
|
My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
|
You scored higher than 19% on SWEET |
|
You scored higher than 4% on CHUNKY |
|
You scored higher than 35% on UNIQUE |
|
This, plus a
poem and a
recipe, up on LJ.
Quotes of the week!(Actual conversation overheard in Borders by S, le next Writers Inc Vice-Chair, by two people our age.)
A: You know what, Harry Potter is so cheem!
B: Yah, I totally can't understand it!
(after a bit of Outlook nattering...)
YY: So why are you staying back?
Me: Doing some work. You?
YY: Doing PW. Wow, our school life is so exciting. *smile*
LOL. FYI, I stay back on friday to bia because a) I have HEID! And occasionally JES! b) I don't have my otouto! Wah Hey! XD
C&C for poem always welcomed. ^_^ Arigatou!

Hm, and so school starts again. Gah. I can't believe it's term three! That means... I've used up a quarter of my time here! Noooooooo! *is sad*
=(
Nothing much going on, really. But it's nice to be back with the class, and with my CCA mates. Our Econs teacher is sick or something, so we have Mr V for our relief teacher. He's very funny (Like attempting to give ZH a english name, out of the blue. And he called Mingj Mingji too! ^_^ See Mingji, your name is so nice to be warped. ^_^) though the Econs still confuses the socks off me. The awful/cool thing is, apparently he's actually a famous Tamil actor-host. Like the Jack Neo of the Tamil community. (Flau squealed on him.) And he has to work as an Econs teacher. O_o According to Flau, there are also lots of teachers who would really rather be doing something else than teaching, but because they can't live on that, have to take up a day job (ie: Teaching). In other words, like Flau. *sighs* You can live to write, but not write to live. I think it's quite sad. =( Maybe this is why we don't have a thriving arts scene... All our artists are stuck teaching or in other day jobs. And it's a vicious cycle.
I don't like the Chem lab. *frowns* I don't know if it's just me, but whenever we have tutorial (instead of prac) inside, I start feeling feverish and woozy after an hour and a half or so. Not sure if this is due to the heat or poor ventilation in the labs. (Or the fact that my feet can't touch the floor. XD) So. Hm.
So freaky. I just heard what sounded like a ship's foghorn. I mean... I'm NEAR to the sea, but as sure as the sky is blue I shouldn't be able to hear foghorns... (Funny thing is, I only ever hear them at night too. Hehhhhh...)
The Writers Inc sempais have left to study, so that basically leaves ~me~ in charge. *quakes a bit* =S. *is completely not used to this* Mr P (le Teach-in-charge)still scares me a bit (Mainly because he's big, tall, loud, and likes to eyeball us. I'm not sure if the ang moh-ness has anything to do with it.) I'll just have to take it as it comes I suppose... I'm walking around with club money right now though. O_o (Ooh, embezzlement! XD Jodan, jodan desu! ^_^)
And anyway, you'll soon find out that the R swept FIRST, THIRD, one High Commendation and one Commendation for the Commonwealth Essay Competition. ^_________^ I'm so proud of my school! ^_^ I got the High Commendation, whee. ^_^ But I know all the prizewinners, because they're all from Writers Inc! ^_^ (Or were. The third prizewinner deserted us for R(A) -_-;;;) Mr P is inordinately happy, but due to what I suspect is severe politicking up in the staffroom, it's going to be announced as (of all things) General Paper Deptartment's coup, not Writers Inc. *frowns* Bleah. Well, there's always Outlook. XD (Abuse of power! Lol.)
I feel like I'm running an illegal manga/anime/books blackmarket in school. XD Lol. On tuesday I brought 7 Bleach + 8 Spiral + 2 Neil Gaiman to school. I mean... It's like a drug cartel or something! XD addiction? Yes. Covert meetings in corridors? Yes. Covert use of aforementioned goods in class? Yes. (Not by me. *looks innocent*) Secret poppy field in
Mexico Taka? Yes. (Kino. Lol.) Use of PoT? YES -PLEASE-. XD *dies laughing*
And Gaiman-sensei was in Singapore. *_* *wibbles* *wanted to go, but was swamped* And Chari went! And Erushi went! And... ahhhh~~~~ *expires*
And of course, common tests. Which are comming back in dribs and drabs, and are doing NOTHING to help my already rattled state. Um, fear my oh so stupendous marks? -_-;;; Not. [Touda: You have no
idea of the horrors you are missing.]
GP, Maths: Nothing Returned
Chem: 7/12 for MCQ. *crawls under a rock*
Physics: 8/15 for MCQ.
Econs: 11/20 for MCQ, 20/25 for DRQ (<- I went "O_O. O_O. OMG." [Lol, because I'd initially thought it was upon 20 like for lecture test.] Then I realised I did well because I'd simply transfered my social studies and geog skills to DRQ. Thankfully, the second amazing fluke is that DRQ is 40% of my paper. *grin* *ducks flying pointy objects*)
Chinese: Oral: 15/20 Listening: 8/10 paper 2: 41/100. (<- Uhmmm, but the stupid thing I did was to mix up the answer spaces for sections C and D, if not i would have nine more marks... @_@ *commits hara-kiri* And the sky is falling - I got 17/20 for summary. *watches pigs fly*)
I am so going to blow CTs. T_T

117th IOC - London 2012YAY! *was always a London supporter* I couldn't believe it either... So cool! ^_^ Though I do feel sad for Paris... If the videos were anything to go by, it was quite obvious that London would win...
Singapore: O_O. Uhmmm, that sure ~looks~ like Singapore, but it's kinda queer. :-\ I mean, seriously. Flocks of birds taking off from pristine beaches? Sparkling buildings? ... Um. Hm.
Paris:
Most Olympic Video Whee! Cool vid! Very olympic. =) Great cheoreography, though the CG for the planes at the end was terribly obvious.
New York:
Most Unexpected Video ...Quite a let down really. Just a series of New York images... Though the music was pretty cool. But... No 'Oomph', no message, could have been an MTV for all I know. You'd think that with hollywood they could have done something cooler...
Moscow:
Most Huh? Video ... A series of shots of other cities, then one last shot of Moscow 2012, the Moscow 2012 logo, and that was all. *blinks* I thought they'd shown the wrong video at first!
Madrid:
Most Star Power Basically, also another cultural thingum, with the normal strong Spanish colours. Features Antonio Banderas and a very stoned Rafael Nadaal (The new King of Clay in tennis). Not half bad.
London:
Best Video Strong storyline, good camerawork, very creative, great music, very
London, and aboveall:
Funny. I loved it. I want a copy. *_*
London Bomb BlastsSo I spent most of thursday night glued to BBC and CNN. It's just terrible. It's tragic. Confound it all, the English language doesn't have a word storng enough to describe how awful the whole thing is. My deepest sympathies to everyone.
PM Tony Blair looked visibly shaken on BBC. But a great speech on BBC. I think I see why some people still support him, even though he's made a few bad decisions. This man has a backbone, he does. Though the British are remarkably stoic as a people... (Bush as usual, just looked blur.)
*sighs* Well, the war's not over yet, it seems. And why does it always seem like we're losing the battles? So we got Saddam (who was a dictator, and not a terrorist), but they've got 911, Madrid, Bali and London. Good guys 0, Terrorists 4.
Maybe we're going about this the wrong way. Negotiation? Humans were given mouths and language for a purpose, y'know. But honestly, I'd already had terrorist alarms go off in my head when I heard the words "London", "Underground" and "blast". The time lag was about right, and the target wasn't unexpected. I just feel so sad for London, because I like Britian, I really do, so it's saddening when this kind of thing happens...
I shall never trust CNA again. BBC and CNN are all over the London blasts, and what is our -beloved- news channel doing? Showing some Asia Financial thingum. *disgusted* I mean... HELLO? Terrorist attack? Breaking world news? -_-;;; This was at six something mind you, more than three hours after the blasts occured. Thank God for cable. This is like the US elections, where CNA was 1.5 hours behind everyone else...

It's 12.26 am... Can't... Stay... Awake. *blinks rapidly*

The Long awaited Thailand 05 photos!^_^
Quotes of the Week (um, dating back to week three/four of the hols)
While watching Weiss Kreuz with Heid & Mingji:
Heid: This is so
Charlie's Angels.
Me: *considers for a moment* *dies laughing*
(After Econs, while walking to J8 to get foooooood.)
Heid: I have a hollow in my stomach!
(Long pause)
Mingji + Me: O_o
(Bleach! Bleach!)
Why my dad must NOT be let near indian food:
Mum: I thought I ordered eight Naans?
Dad: Yeah, what did you get? Seven naans (nuns) and a monk?
(long pause)
Dad: ^_^
Us: *headdesk*
---------
As a side note: I have finally gotten off my lazy bum and learnt how to use mIRC. ^_^
SPOILERS: BLEACH MANGA #17++Stars = safe
FINALLY. They rescue Rukia! *collapses from all the drama* I think Kubo-sensei wins some kinda of award for having eight days drag out over, what, ten books?? X_X *goes cross-eyed* Though, lol, there's Renji/Rukia all over the place. (And on a slightly ickier note, Ishida/Orihime. WTH??!) Top notch job, and very good artwork.
Though what I'm worried about Bleach is that it falls into the YamiMatsu hole of doom. The last ten books have been universe!expansion, where you learn more of the rule of the Bleach-verse, which is not a bad thing, just that there's been too much of it. I mean... I liked killing hollows and character development of Chad, Ichigo, Ishida and Rukia much more than the development of Gohei. (Despite the fact that I love Zaraki and Urahara and all the captains muchly) I just think it's too much, and the deviation from the main idea of Bleach is getting kinda bad. (Kinda like YamiMatsu and Tsuzuki's blow-myself-up episode, which lasted four books and although was full of good Tsuoka angst, was a terrible bore.) It was a brilliant idea to kidnap Rukia (since we all knew she'd have to pay for shinigami-fying ichigo sooner or later <- Newton's third law. XD), but blowing up most of Shinigami central...? Um. And truthfully, I'm getting very confused with all the characters, because we see them for a grand total of one chapter per book or less. Slower, more character developement. The flashbacks are all well and nice, but... It's not very deep. *ducks flying daggers* *attempts to squish whatever latent Lit brain cells she has left* The best characterisation so far has been Zaraki and (Um, insert name of short, young, white-haired captain on the cover of book 16). And Rukia has gone down the drain. And Byakuya is terribly two-dimensional. (Which is a waste of good bishonen.) So. Um. *just wants Bleach to get back on track of Hollow-busting*
****************
Indianapolis 05: F1 Farce of the MilleniumOkay, if you don't know, the basics are: out of 20 cars, only six cars participated. A complete blow out in other words. (And I stayed up till 3am to watch! *FUMES*) The reason? The cars running on Michelin tyres decided not to run, because the tyres couldn't handle a particular curve: drivers could die. All they wanted was another bend (Chicane) put in to slow the curve down. And up comes Ferrari with "No." -_- *is really starting to dislike Ferrari, not just because of their uppity attitude and their abilities, but the sheer disrespect Ferrari has for everyone else*
And the biggest farce? The F1 authority hauls the Michelin teams up for punishment. WTH??!!?? Hello, the one who should be fined and points confiscated is Ferrari. A race with six cars is already a farce, and yet the drivers still got points. *disgusted* I tell you, the people responsible for ruining F1's image are not the Michelin teams who
did the right thing, even when it was difficult, but Bernie Ecclestone (F1's owner) and the rest of those yobs who shot themselves in the foot. F1 is a great sport (despite 04's boring Ferrari-Schamacher season and the fact that 75% of the time nothing happens out on track), and I hate it when great things are ruined by small minded people. *fumes*
I think we should take F1 out of Bernie and Co's hands. There's already talk of starting an A1 grand prix series. You guys are in hyper deep trouble. Face up: F1 doesn't need you and your awful handling any more. F1 can thrive on its own. If you really love F1 (which I highly doubt) instead of seeing it as a money making machine, let the teams and drivers run it.
You can bet that at Magny-Cours (The French Grand Prix) today, there's going to be a few people yelling "Crash crash crash!" whenever Ferrari appears on screen.

ST: Tyre fiasco takes air out of F1Good article, says pretty much everything I want to say.
